IRELAND is preparing for two days of chaos as Storm Kathleen approaches with “threat to life” alerts in place for five counties.

Storm Kathleen’s “damaging gusts” and “treacherous” conditions are set to batter the country in the early hours of Saturday morning – and many attractions are taking precaution.

Gusts of up to 130kph are expected to arrive on Irish shores, with the public warned to stay away from ALL coastal areas for the duration of the storm, which makes landfall in the early hours of Saturday.

Five counties have been put under two major Status Orange wind warnings as the public are warned to stay on high alert and indoors during its peak.

Cork, Kerry and Waterford’s orange alert will be in operation from 7am on Saturday through to 2pm.
